Cons: Will cause severe breakout, cystic acne, and permanent facial scarring

I used Proactiv Solution to try and get rid of the few pimples that I had. Instead, my face broke out severely. Supposedly, according to the Proactiv reps, I had an allergic reaction and that I was only experiencing the "normal break out period." They reassured me that my face would get better if I were to continue to use the product for several months. In fact, they even sold me additional products, which only worsened my condition. I had to consult a dermatologist to get rid of the cystic acne that Proactiv caused. However, I have been left with scars and reddish/brownish marks on my face.

I decided to try Proactiv Solution after not really being able to find anything that worked. Using it was the worst decision I could have made. It dried out my skin to the point that I am peeling all over. It burns and is extremely irritated. I followed the directions exactly. My face looked better with pimples then how it does now. I have been off the system for 3 days and my skin is still peeling all over the place. It's getting better as I apply Neutrogena lotion constantly, but it's embarrassing to go out in public. Do yourself a favor. Save time and money and don't get caught up in the Proactiv craze.

I started using this skin care system about the age of 47. It worked perfectly for me. It cleared the acne and made my face kind of smooth and radiant looking! You must use it everyday for it to work!!! Don't get discourage at first, give it time to work, maybe about 2 weeks, o.k.

I feel Proactiv Solution is the only acne treatment that has ever worked for me personally. It is easy to use, and starts to clear up your face very quickly. It's a wonderful product overall, very satisfied. I feel the cleanser and toner don't matter as much as the repairing lotion. Also be careful if you sleep on anything but white sheets, this product ruined all my bedding and some of my clothing as well!

Cons: Have to use it consistently, FOREVER.

Proactiv Solution did save me during junior high and high school, but I think that using it so much not only caused a lot of my clothes to bleach, but I think I became resistant to it. For someone like me with severe, severe, really, really gross acne ALL over my body, trying to apply acne solution turned out to be a hassle and a failure. I was at my wit's end, and finally went on Accutane. It cost a lot of money, but less than the amount I had spent on Proactiv for years. If your liver is healthy and you can handle it, Accutane is the way to go. I know there are rumors out there, but assess for yourself.

I am a 33-year old woman with mild acne. I've seen the Jessica Simpson's commercials and all the ads. I purchased Proactiv kit with the trial mask treatment with great expectations. I used it in the morning like the directions said and before bed. The next morning I woke up to find hives everywhere I applied the solution. The hives felt like I had a very bad sunburn and on top of that they itched. It's been a week to the day and the hives are about 85% gone. My skin feels very dry and it still itches sometimes. Very scared to go out in the sun. After doing some research online I realized there are a lot of people with similar results. I guess what I am trying to put out here is be very careful with this product. Even long-term use can actually age your skin especially if you like the sun.

I had tried so many other products out there and they didn't work. I had results from Proactiv Solution in about 3 days. It was amazing and I got a lot of complements on my skin. Earlier I had oily skin and the 3-step system and oil control cream really worked. It also tones out your complexion and makes your skin soft and glowing.

Pros: Fast and effective compared to similar other treatment.
Cons: Difficult to switch once you start with it.

When I first started the acne treatment my face cleared up within two weeks and stayed cleared up. I tried to get off of Proactiv Solution after the 2 months supply was over and try a more natural approach. Turns out once you start it you cannot switch. Your skin becomes addicted to it. Even after I've switched back, I'm still having problems with my face evening out. I'm hoping some of the mega pimples that popped up due to my attempt at switching go away shortly. Overall it's a great product, but once you start you are probably on it for life. It could be different for other folks.

Update 3/19/06: All the pimples that popped during my switching attempt have vanished. It took about 3 weeks for it to clear all my skin. Product rating and other views still remain same.

Pros: It works!
Cons: Just not for me.

I have extremely dry, sensitive and acne prone skin so my neighbor gave me this product. In actuality I cannot tell you if it works because I irrated my skin so much that I could not use it for two weeks. The scrub actually hurt my cheeks so much that I have never used another scrub again. The toner is extremely drying and the moisturizer did nothing for me. However, it did work wonders for a friend of mine with not so sensitive oily skin. My advice, if you have very sensitive skin stay as far away as you can from this product. If not, knock yourself out.
